Tech For Troops Recognized as a 2025 DARS Champion of Disability Employment

Tech For Troops is honored to be named one of the 2025 Champions of Disability Employment by the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS). This recognition celebrates businesses and partners across the Commonwealth that demonstrate outstanding leadership and commitment to creating inclusive employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. During the 2025 DARS Champions of Disability Employment Awards Ceremony, Jennie Nienaber proudly accepted the Community Partner Award on behalf of Tech For Troops. This award highlights our continued efforts to empower Veterans of all abilities through technology, training, and opportunity.

About the DARS Champions of Disability Employment Awards

The Champions of Disability Employment Awards honor employers and community partners who actively promote workplace inclusion for individuals with disabilities. Each honoree is nominated by a local vocational rehabilitation counselor and selected by a statewide committee for demonstrating excellence in accessibility and equitable employment practices.

In 2025, Tech For Troops was among only five organizations chosen across Virginia. Our recognition as a Community Partner Award recipient acknowledges how our programs help Veterans with disabilities build digital skills, pursue education, and secure employment that supports independence and long-term success.

What This Recognition Means to Tech For Troops

At Tech For Troops, we believe that every Veteran has potential, regardless of physical or cognitive challenges. Our programs are built around inclusion and empowerment, providing refurbished computers, digital skills training, and career preparation to Veterans and their families.

Receiving this recognition from DARS reinforces the mission that drives us every day: to create pathways to opportunity through access to technology. It also celebrates the Veterans, staff, and partners who make our work possible and reminds us that meaningful impact comes through collaboration and compassion.
