“The Bunker” brings Tech for Troops’ Game Corps initiative directly into a clinical setting where Veterans can join structured video gaming activities that strengthen connection, teamwork, and emotional resilience. The program is led by Jason Parker, Game Master for Tech For Troops. Jason’s own recovery was shaped by gaming, which helped him build a support network during a period of isolation.
“Veterans need safe places where they feel understood and supported,” Parker said. “Gaming becomes a lifeline when it connects someone to a team, a mission, and a community that listens.”

We recently partnered with Tech for Troops and its Game Corps specialists to install a video game “gaming bunker” at our Post. The bunker provides members a designated space within our Post to build camaraderie while gaming with fellow veterans.
I cannot speak highly enough about the value the bunker provides to our Post, and I encourage any other veteran service organization considering one to contact Tech for Troops. Specifically, our set-up provides three major benefits. First, it provides a place in a veteran-friendly environment for our members to bond over video games. Second, Game Corps’ Dispatch (i.e. internet-based gaming) channel provides access to
mental health professionals, a critical lifeline for veterans in crisis. Lastly, our bunker provides an amenity at the Post that appeals to a younger generation of veterans, helping recruit a new demographic of VFW members.
