Veteran Improvement By Education
The VIBE (Veteran Improvement By Education) class is a free, monthly computer skills training program hosted by Tech For Troops in Richmond, Virginia. VIBE is designed for Veterans who may feel unsure, out of practice, or overwhelmed by technology. You do not need prior computer experience. The class is relaxed, supportive, and focused on practical skills you can use right away. If this is your first time attending a class like this, you are not alone. Many participants arrive feeling uncertain and leave feeling more confident.
What to Expect on Class Day
VIBE classes are held in a relaxed, supportive environment at the Tech For Troops Richmond Headquarters. Instructors and volunteers take the time to explain things clearly and answer questions as they come up. You are encouraged to learn at your own pace.
Topics Covered
Classes focus on practical, real-world computer skills, including:
Creating and updating a resume
Searching and applying for jobs online
Preparing for virtual interviews
Accessing telehealth and online medical services
Using email and basic office software
Exploring online education and training opportunities
The focus is on skills you can use right away.
More Than a Class
VIBE is part of Tech For Troops’ broader mission to support Veterans who are transitioning out of homelessness, poverty, or difficult circumstances. The program is about more than computers, it’s about building confidence, independence, and a foundation for long-term stability. You will not be rushed, tested, or compared to others. The goal is progress, not perfection.
Application & Eligibility
To attend a VIBE class, you must first complete a Veteran Improvement Program (VIP) Laptop Application.

Tech For Troops’ Veteran Improvement Program (VIP) provides refurbished computers at low or no cost to:
Veterans, National Guard, and transitioning active-duty members in need
Non-profit organizations that support Veterans, such as:
Veteran training centers
Counseling centers
Veteran housing organizations
