In partnership with Poplar Springs Hospital in Petersburg, Va.,Tech For Troops has opened the Game Corps Gaming Therapy Bunker to support Veterans through interactive gaming, community engagement, and suicide prevention programming.

“The Bunker” brings Tech for Troops’ Game Corps initiative directly into a clinical setting where Veterans can join structured video gaming activities that strengthen connection, teamwork, and emotional resilience. The program is led by Jason Parker, Game Master for Tech For Troops. Jason’s own recovery was shaped by gaming, which helped him build a support network during a period of isolation. 

“Veterans need safe places where they feel understood and supported,” Parker said. “Gaming becomes a lifeline when it connects someone to a team, a mission, and a community that listens.”

“We’re proud to partner with Poplar Springs to bring this resource to Veterans while they’re receiving inpatient care,” said Mark Casper, President and CEO of Tech For Troops. “The Game Corps Therapy Bunker gives Veterans a space where they can rediscover friendship and community through gaming.”

Poplar Springs Hospital leadership shares this commitment. CEO Michael Triggs supports integrating Game Corps resources into therapy, giving Veterans innovative tools that complement traditional treatment and reduce isolation.

Outside the physical bunker, Game Corps operates an online presence that supports Veterans through gaming-based social networks. Through platforms like Discord and Twitch, Game Corps offers moderated spaces where Veterans can participate in community gaming sessions, share experiences, and find ongoing support from peers and trained volunteers. These digital communities extend the impact of the bunker and offer Veterans a consistent connection after treatment.
